Ahaha, other people with the unique ability to create a puzzle out of nothing! Interesting question though... it's strange to imagine what would happen if everyone suddenly decided that you weren't there. I mean, everything in our world, to us, is relative; we continually compare ourselves with others, to others, to simply convince ourselves of ourselves. If that made any sense. Anyways, since we are so dependant on what everyone else thinks of us, would we really exist if we didn't in the eyes of society? Because ultimately, that is what everyone strives to do, be recognized by society as a whole.
Phew! I kind of lost my train of thought for a while back there... hope it made some sort of sense
It did! If people suddenly didnt see you, suddenly couldnt hear you. Wouldnt talk to you. Do you exist? If you lost your presence... Are you present anymore? If noone will listen to your thoughts, opinions, complaints and praise... You're not really an individual anymore, are you. We, as human beings can so easily be written off. The society everyone perpetually strive to please, and in turn, let take control over them... could so easily be our own undoing xD jfnkfjsdhfkhvkghjhfvkuh if only we could all just break free of the system we've chained ourselves to.
Yes! Exactly! Society is the entire problem, I think, in this issue. We all know what it expects of us, and rarely do we ever try to do things our way, just try to fit into the different stereotypes and expectations everyone else puts on us! Kind of pointless, but that is another mystery of the world, I suppose. Why do you, personally, think we are so swayed by the way society views us? It’s a question that truly intrigues me, because I know that there cannot simply be one reason, I am certain that it is the cause of multiple ones. But really, if you think about it, the way our society acts and expects us to act is basically the mold for our nature, and how we are influenced the most heavily. Everyone does things to improve society, everyone acts according to their society, they all have opinions on everyone else’s society.
The thing that runs the world isn’t love, or hate, or money. It is the will of society.
haha, it is right to implode, i think we're warping time and space somewhere by keeping this up xD Hmmmm. If i had to say... i think it is the fear of the unknown that has us conforming to society like this. Insecurities about the future. ''What will happen when i try to step out from the category i've been labeled with? will i get marriage proposals if i, from a very well off family, start spending time with those less fortunate? Will i get any jobs if everyone knows of my slightly different beliefs/tastes/preferences?'' We have a certain expectation from the position in society we have and act to maintain it or improve our standing.... and... when you step back and think about it... considering the motive of self interest being very prevalent in our subconscious mind... human behaviour becomes quite predictable. society is like a well oiled machine... keeping us in line...predictable.... The world has become a place where intelegence and potential is measured by grades on standardised tests, worth is indicated by the color of your skin and the money in your pocket... Dehumanised. Society is dehumanising us all. omg...? does that eve make sense?
The way you put it, it's kind of a long, revolving, confusing vicious cycle...
We don't want to express our individuality too much because we are afraid of how society will view us, or how we will end up standing in the hierarchy of society. Why? Because society is our base point, our safe zone, the thing we can be sure of because it's been drilled into us from the moment we are born (okay, a little bit of exaggeration, but still). Why is this? Because no one else expresses their individuality, and that is what has set the standard. And therefore, no one else wants to be the odd one out and do their own thing.
I also agree with you on the whole idea of us being 'dehumanized'... because there is a certain 'standard' that everyone has subconsciously deemed as safe and predictable, it's turned us into walking, talking, breathing robots with certain thoughts programmed into our minds. If you look at it, society is basically the software that the robots ourselves have designed for ourselves. Sort of a messed up concept, but I suppose it's because we are a complicated and messed up species O___o
Wow... if I ever become a philosopher, I can say that my career started with a drawing on Deviantart XD
We learn how to behave by observing the behaviour of others. We thoughts revolve around what we observe. Anyone who steps out of line and does something socialy unacceptable or statistically infrequent is put under suspicion of being mentally unstable and carted off in a a straitjacket. Even things that really should be a way to express your individuality and tastes like choice of music and clothes, are governed by trends. Fashion, whats in and whats not? Do you dare wear something that noone else is and being labeled as weird or a freak? lol not a very effective example but you get what i mean, no? Dehumanised by civilisation, society, the very things that technically define us as being a living breathing thinking human. The very things that act as proof of us and our personality as having existed, is what is robbing us of these things. Who dares try break free of these chains? Noone we know of. Perhaps there were many... but they were written off as insane or disappeared. That reminds me, wasnt Galileo Galilei such a person? I believe he moved away from his society and made many scientific and mathmatical breakthroughs... but he faced alot of persecution, didnt he... Haha, omg im happy my drawing has had the honor of hosting this dicussion with you xD
Yes, I think so. Unfortunately, if nobody knows you exist, it's like you never existed. Ever. It's...really sad, because if something were to happen to you, and nobody knows you existed, nobody would even notice you're gone. Just like Jack. Nobody knew he was there for 300 years. Nobody knew he even existed. He could've just disappeared, and nobody would've noticed. It must be so lonely...
Wow. I haven't seen the movie yet, but it sounds amazing! That really ties into what the purpose of our entire lives would be if it we weren't acknowledged for our actions. What would they add up to, really, if your efforts didn't affect anyone, or were ignored? Aaah such deep topics D:
God, that moment when Jamie saw him... The feels were overwhelming... I laughed and cried along with Jack... I felt so happy and...oh man if they had kept up that scene just before Jack started getting exited, I would've bawled my eyes out out of sheer joy...
Exactly. Had dreamworks been 'allowed' to make the movie longer, we would've been totaly SHOT. Most satisfying movie seen all year. All the little funny bits... the bonding moments...(jackxbunny xD) Overwhelming. i walked in knowing it'd be good. but this good? no.
Yup, agreed And yes, it was very satisfying I listen to the soundtrack, and I LAUGH because the music is just SO PLAYFUL and I love listening to it! It's perfect! One of my favourite parts in the whole movie (and it gets me every time) is the part when he emerges from the lake and learns how to use his powers. I laugh, and I just want to jump through the screen and run with him. Of course, all of that is quickly thrown aside when he goes into Burgess and nobody can see him...
Hahaha, I love how the crack a joke every five minutes in the movie. They had FUN and that's what I like about it XD and yes the JackRabbit Bromance going on through the entire thing was the best XD
Jack: *climbs onto back of North's sleigh* Hey! Bunny! You gotta see this view- WHOA! *falls overboard* Bunny: O_O MATE... NOOOOORTH! *looks over the side* Jack: *sitting on the runner* Awww Bunny, you do care. Bunny: Oh RACK OFF YA BLOODY SHOW PONY!
And yes, I knew it would be good But it was better than I expected
